Thésée Data center is carrying out a construction project for a neutral, independent data center campus, which is being built in Aubergenville (Yvelines), 20 minutes from La Défense, in the heart of a 3-hectare plot. Entirely based on French law and funding, Thésée Data center offers an alternative to businesses wishing to ensure they have control over their data and that their confidentiality is respected.
The creation of this new data center campus sees two new institutional stakeholders join the historic shareholders, Christophe Bouniol and Eric Arbaretaz: the Banque des Territoires takes a 24.9% stake and GROUPE IDEC also has a 24.9 % stake. A network of French banks also supports the funding for this project.
“With this project, the Banque des Territoires is involved in the economic development of the local area and is contributing to a top class facility made available to local businesses ensuring the resilience and quality of their computer services. It is involved as a well-informed third-party investor serving local areas which are better connected and also more sustainable,” declared Marianne Louradour, Regional Director in Ile-de-France for the Banque des Territoires.
GROUPE IDEC is joining in with this ambitious project via its subsidiary GROUPE IDEC INVEST. This fits in with its goal of developing sustainable, connected and intelligent property. “The virtuous approach to this new generation data center is very meaningful with the responsible approach adopted by GROUPE IDEC when they conceive, plan, develop, design and build workplaces and living space that are fully integrated into their environment,” explained Lionel Mary, Managing Director of GROUPE IDEC INVEST.
The campus – as the project will ultimately include several data centers – will contribute to the development and economic appeal of the local area, by offering particularly useful services to local businesses and public bodies, which matches the spirit of the stakeholders in this project. The modular and extendable Tier IV certified (the highest level of certification) data center will be home to equipment and host computer applications. The fault tolerance of these facilities means they will offer maximum critical availability.
From the first unit in its data center campus, Thésée Data center will also offer the highest level of energy efficiency, with a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.20 or in other words a reduction in energy consumption of 35 % in comparison to the most recent data centers. This efficiency guarantees not only economic savings and therefore greater competitiveness, but also a reduction in the environmental impact.
Connectivity will also be at the highest level with access to several operators in the data center. The physical security of the facilities will be particularly high, as this was factored in from the design of the building to allow the installation of the latest security, fire and access control technologies.
This Data Center with its high energy efficiency will meet all the main requirements, starting with the matter of energy, its production, use and sharing to build projects that fit in with the idea of sustainable development. The question of data control and safety is also at the heart of this project supported by GROUPE IDEC and its institutional partners.
